‘Destroyer’ Director Karyn Kusama Discusses Sebastian’s role Chris in the film

TheMarySue.com — While the movie focuses on Erin and her past and present, Chris plays an important role in how Erin exists in the modern day. He’s only in the movie for maybe ten minutes, but his role is so important to the Erin we meet later in her life, and his presence is felt throughout the film thanks to his performance:

“Thankfully, Sebastian brought so much intelligence and complexity and genuine tenderness to the role so you really felt, by that last scene, that he is so desperately in love with her and that he’s going to do something so foolish in service to those feelings.”

Erin and Chris are head over heels in love (and continually high on drugs as they get further into their undercover mission), but there are aspects of their characters that reach into the audience and make us care for them both:

“He (Sebastian Stan) brought a lot of layers to it that just told us that these guys were not ready for what happened, and Sebastian is just such a lovely guy that there is something about him and Nicole. It was so instant that I was like, ‘We’re going to be okay.’ I feel like the chemistry between them is very real and genuine and, I don’t know, just truly emotionally connected. And I know that, in some respects, the audience isn’t sure, initially—when we discover that they really are a couple—we’re not sure what’s really driving that, but by the end, to learn that they are crazy about each other, it makes it heartbreaking.”

Their love is told in a way that brings a contrast to the film, separating the two sides of Erin’s story, and it’s important to uphold the significance of her relationship with Chris:

“She opens herself up to him, and in doing so immediately ensnares him in a plan that’s so wrong-headed, and she lives with that for the rest of her life.”

Falcon-Winter Soldier Limited Series in the Works With ‘Empire’ Writer

Variety.com — Marvel heroes Falcon and Winter Soldier are teaming up for a potential limited series at the Disney streaming service.

Variety has learned exclusively that Malcolm Spellman has been tapped to write a series featuring the two superheroes, which is currently in development at the streamer. It is the first of the proposed Marvel limited series to find a writer.

Marvel and Disney declined to comment.

Falcon and Winter Soldier, played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan respectively, have both appeared in multiple Marvel films to date, including the recent blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War.”

While Winter Soldier was a key character in the second “Captain America” film, the character who became the Winter Solider — Bucky Barnes — first appeared in the original “Captain America” film in 2011. Falcon made his first appearance in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

Spellman previously worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the hit Fox series “Empire” and wrote the screenplay for the feature film “Our Family Wedding.” He is repped by CAA and Industry Entertainment Partners

News of the development comes after Variety exclusively reported that Marvel and Disney were prepping multiple limited series centered on characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who had yet to appear in their own standalone films. At that time, it was reported that characters like Loki and Scarlet Witch would also be the subject of their own limited series. The series are expected to be six to eight episodes.

Unlike other Marvel shows like “Daredevil” and “The Punisher,” the series on the Disney streaming service will be produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, who has headed up the MCU for years. The shows are also expected to have large budgets compared to other television projects.

The news also comes as Netflix canceled Marvel shows “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” which both ran for two seasons. The two street-level heroes were part of the four-hero crew that made up the limited Netflix series “The Defenders,” which included Daredevil and Jessica Jones. “Jessica Jones” has already been renewed for a third season, while “Daredevil” launched its third season earlier this month. “The Punisher” was renewed for a second season at Netflix back in December.

Deadline: Roadside Attractions Takes ‘The Last Full Measure’ Starring Sebastian Stan

Deadline.com — Roadside Attractions is planning a wide 2019 theatrical release for Todd Robinson’s The Last Full Measure. The distributor has acquired U.S. rights on the Vietnam drama that stars Avengers: Infinity War‘s Sebastian Stan along with Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, Diane Ladd, Amy Madigan, Jeremy Irvine and Bradley Whitford.

The film recounts an untold story about the heroism of American soldiers in Vietnam. Irvine plays William Pitsenbarger, an Air Force medic who saved over 60 men in one of the harshest battles of the Vietnam War. Offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of the combat zone, Pitsenbarger stayed behind to save and defend the lives of his fellow soldiers. Twenty years later, his comrade in arms (Hurt) and father (Plummer) seek the help of investigator Scott Huffman (Stan) and other surviving veterans of the battle to finally procure him The Congressional Medal of Honor he deserved.

“Todd Robinson’s riveting drama chronicles one man’s sacrifice and valor on the battlefield, and we believe it also highlights an aspect of American patriotism overdue for recognition. Everyone should know about William Pitsenbarger’s bravery and life, and it’s a privilege to bring this film to theaters where it should be seen,” said Roadside’s Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff.

Robinson also wrote the script. Timothy Scott Bogart, Mark Damon, Nicholas Cafritz, Robert Reed Peterson, Shaun Sanghani, Michael Bassick, Adi Cohen and Lauren Selig are producers. Foresight Unlimited produced in association with Rainmaker Films, Lightbox Pictures, Provocator, SSS Entertainment and BCL Finance Group. Sebastian Stan & Denise Gough To Star In ‘Monday’ From ‘Before Midnight’, ‘The Iron Lady’ & ‘Loving’ Producers

Deadline.com — Captain America star Sebastian Stan and Colette actress Denise Gough are set to star in classy-looking feature Monday.

Produced by Christos V.Konstantakopoulos (Before Midnight) Damian Jones (The Iron Lady) and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Loving), Fred Berger (La La Land) will executive produce.

Faliro House and its partners will finance the project. Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales. Production is set for Greece this summer with Argyris Papadimitropoulos (Suntan) directing the script he co-wrote with Rob Hayes.

Pic focuses on two self-destructive Americans, living across Athens and the Greek islands who plunge into a tsunami of a romance.

Papadimitropoulos told us, “Many people don’t feel like getting involved in intense relationships anymore. And that to me is so sad. Chloe and Mickey’s story is a very honest look at one relationship, and in it there are elements everyone will recognize from their own experiences. I simply cannot wait to put the amazingly talented Denise and Sebastian in front of the lens and shoot them in stunning settings, places I know like the back of my hand, and work with a team of producers who have made some of my favorite films.”

Papadimitropoulos’s most recent feature Suntan premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival and SXSW’s Narrative Spotlight before winning best film at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

Hayes is known for his success as a screenwriter and playwright, with his most recent hit This Will End Badly performed in London and receiving critical acclaim.

Stan will next be seen starring opposite Nicole Kidman in Annapurna’s The Destroyer. His credits include Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War and I, Tonya with Margot Robbie. Gough is a two-time winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for her roles in stage plays People Places And Things, and Angels In America, that latter for which she was also nominated for a Tony.

Sebastian Stan Lands Lead in Leonardo DiCaprio Produced ‘Beat The Reaper’

Tracking-Board.com — After years in development on both the big and small screens, a feature adaptation of Josh Bazell’s debut novel BEAT THE REAPER is finally coming together, as Sebastian Stan has signed on to star, while Gore Verbinski has signed on to direct, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.

The project hails from New Regency and Appian Way, so Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson will produce alongside Julie Yorn of LBI Entertainment. The script was written by Billions creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who are also expected to serve as executive producers.

Beat the Reaper follows a young ER doctor whose life is upended when a patient recognizes him from his past life as a mafia hitman. He’s forced to fight to stay alive as old enemies come out of the woodwork to destroy him.

New Regency originally acquired the rights to the book when it was published in January 2009, and developed the feature film project as a starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio. The project moved to HBO in December 2011, but not much has been heard about it since.

Stan is coming off the best performance of his career in I, Tonya, and he’ll soon be seen reprising his role as Bucky in Avengers: Infinity War and its 2019 sequel. Additionally, Stan will be seen alongside Nicole Kidman in Karyn Kusama’s crime thriller Destroyer, and he stars opposite Alexandra Daddario in We Have Always Lived in the Castle. He’s represented by ICM Partners, Brookside Artist Management and attorney Jason Sloane.

Sebastian Stops by Good Morning America (Photos + Video)

Screenrant.com Avengers: Infinity War star Sebastian Stan appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, and posted a photo from the show’s set of himself posing with a toy replica of the Infinity Gauntlet. The appearance was to promote Avengers: Infinity War and a new children’s charity initiative called Marvel: Universe Unites.

Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes aka. the Winter Soldier, posted a video on Instagram of him flexing a toy version of the Infinity Gauntlet – one of the key artifacts wielded by the cosmic villain Thanos in Infinity War. Stan appeared on GMA alongside Paul Bettany, who plays The Vision (and formerly voiced Tony Stark’s AI assistant J.A.R.V.I.S.), and Karen Gillan, the reformed villain Nebula from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies (who will also be appearing in Infinity War). The upcoming Infinity War will be the first of a two-part movie that will end this current generation of Marvel movies and transition into a new phase with emphasis on new or currently supporting characters.

The Good Morning America appearance, and the accompanying Instagram, was to begin the push for Marvel: Universe Unites. This is a charitable drive co-branded to help promote Infinity War (as the existing Marvel universe will unite in the film). It is part of a larger charitable initiative called Hero Acts that works to support the Save the Children charity.

APRIL 27th. #infinitywar #? #GMA #heroacts

A post shared by Sebastian Stan (@imsebastianstan) on

The video came with a flurry of social media activity that also included a photo of the three actors posing with a bevy of Marvel toys. The concept between Universe Unites is that each Marvel actor would play with the toys given to them in a large box, and pose with them for social media photos. The toys would then be sent to a child in need. The photo of Bettany, Gillan, and Stan aims to reach one million likes on Instagram. If the photo hits the desired number, Marvel will donate $250,000 to the charity. Marvel will also be donating 10 percent of Marvel toy sales proceeds earned on Saturday, March 3.

The character of Barnes is notably outfitted with a cybernetic arm after losing his left arm in an accident during World War II that presumably had taken his life. He was last onscreen missing the arm completely. It is notable, then, that Stan is the one posing with the Gauntlet. In the comics, the Winter Soldier eventually takes up the mantle of Captain America when Steve Rogers is apparently assassinated. It has been theorized that part of the Marvel push past Infinity War will be to feature Barnes as the new Captain America, and it is possible that Barnes unleashing the power of the Infinity Gauntlet may play into this somewhat.

Seldom is anything done in the public sphere by a Marvel Cinematic Universe actor without some sort of subtext or cryptic hinting. Marvel is notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to future movie events and the trajectory of the MCU storyline. It is unlikely, then, that the post by Stan on the show was merely a fun bit of happenstance. It is possible, though, that we will have to wait past Infinity War for the meaning of the act, as the currently untitled fourth Avengers movie will continue the story from May’s Avengers romp.
